Bernie Sanders wants everyone to know that he intends to be the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States. In an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday he did not commit to conceding the primary even if it became clear he would not be the nominee. Politico says that it's a move that traces back to 2016 when the senator was facing down Hillary Clinton. MSNBC's Kasie Hunt asked Sanders if he would leave the race before the national convention. His response? "I intend to be the Democratic nominee." After a back-and-forth Sanders said Are you asking that of every candidate?" The Vermont senator is polling just behind front-runner and former Vice President Joe Biden by 20 points. Sanders tried to ignore the polls that are not favorable of him and reminded viewers that some polls show him beating Trump. "We're going to beat Trump, we're going to win the Democratic nomination."
