DoorDash announced a new revised pay model that will give it couriers “more money on average.” According to Gizmodo, they company used tips in the past to subsidize minimum guaranteed payouts. This means that DoorDash would profit from the tips of their workers and not give it to them. Although the new model gives couriers all of their tips, base pay will still vary by delivery. Base payments can be as low as $2 and go to more than $10, depending on “duration, distance, and desirability.”
